Sprint EVDO on a USB dongle

This could make the UMPC concept really take off… or not. Although this is an incredible tecnology, it is for data only. As laptops have had PCMCIA “air” cards and some even with built in GSM data modems, the concept hanst taken off in any earthshaking way. Yes there is a market for them, buisness laptops require them for data on the go, private users might need wireless data in areas where there are no cable drops, remote stations reporting data, ect… But the simple inability to make and recieve phone calls is the achilles heel to this idea. It could help to reduce the size and increase versitility of future devices. Is this the direction that high end modile computing is going to go?
