Symbian announces the death of the PC

Symbian’s head of propositions, John Forsyth, argued that “in five years’ time you’ll wonder why you need a PC at all.”

Speaking to ZDNet UK at the show, Forsyth said that “phones are beginning to eat into the space” that laptops were designed for.

“It will be a great relief to be liberated from the laptop,” he added, citing poor laptop battery performance as a key reason.[/url]

As absurd as that sounds, my take on the UMPC and the role that it could play in ameican life would agree with those statements. Now symbian might or might not lead the way to the death of the pc, but certainly you wont see me trying to stop them from putting more mobile computing power on the market.
