UTStarcom’s banner at thier booth at CTIA showcased 2 interesting phones… The PPC6800 and the SMT5800 (HTC libra). I dont want to start any rumors, rather to sort through relevent information and to STOP rumors. What seems to be going around is largely based off the pictures, and a lot of that information seems to be wrong. One rumor is that the HTC libra is a WM5 smartphone… but can you imagine no touchscreen without a good D-pad? Im thinking its WM5 PPC and the soft keyboard icon was left out by the artist, and it sure looks like WM5 PPC to me. Another claim surrounding the HTC libra is that it supports EVDO rev A with a GSM version in the works… a viable claim and probably the whole reason it makes this post hit our blog. A new CDMA phone is highly interesting to us, and the HTC libra looks like a good bet to hit the US market. Very little is known about the PPC6800, well little that can be verified or even sounds plauseable. More on that later, we will let others speculate and generate info off of little more than a photo, as for us at shadowmite.com, we will watch and wait for solid information… Either way both phones look like nice devices so far and we cant wait for more info. If anyone thinks they got some solid information or some leads for us to chase down, please let us know.
