This just in… a Treo 700wx in our hands…

spymongoose: “Our local shadowmite.com hacker team field reporter Audiofx81 is on scene at his local sprint store where he is waiting to get his hands on one of 3 treo 700wx’s availiable at that store. He has an inside source, and unlike the treo 700wx’s that have been leaked, this one will be his… We now go to audiofx81”

audiofx81: “Thank you spy, I’m at my local sprint store and I have my hands on a new sprint treo 700wx. I have examined the phone and have discovered that the keyboard is nice and bright compared to the treo 700p, and the look and feel of the phone is right on par with the verizon 700w. The text messaging app is the same for all wm5 devices (we did confirm no threaded SMS!), no sprint tv but does have on demand, and the memory total and useage was identical to the leaked phones. I will have pics up for everyone to see as soon as i get home. back to you spy”

spymongoose: “The shadowmite.com hacker team will run every test we can think of on this phone and will form an officail opinion of the Treo 700wx shortly.”
THIS JUST IN!!!

The 700wx in its natural environment, see how very similar it is to its slower and weaker Verizon cousin.

No TXT threading!

This is not a Treo since it haves WinCE. Period!

I am not sure if i should agree or dissagree, as im not sure what 3 things a treo initally combined. While the OS may have changed, it does fit what I have come to define as a treo. 1) It was designed by someone other than palm inc. 2) it has the form factor that was a good idea once and since it worked then it should work now, and 3) palm shortchanged it and its users and kept it from being as great as it could have been. So under those 3 defining criteria, I think it is a treo. As freddy noted, it does run a WinCE OS, making it do more than a treo can typically handle. However, the treo 700w was at best a third rate WinCE device, lacking screen area and memory typically found in a contemporary WinCE device. *IF* the memory gets fixed in the 700wx, it may become a second rate WinCE device. We shall see if that happens. The treo line had marked the best of palms offerings, and this mediochre WM5 offering certainly marks a low point… definitly not typical of a treo.
