HWBY Rover (Howby) is now in development

So, with the Weegee 1.1 finally in production, the HWBY or from now on, Howby, rover is underway.

Home, Work, and Backyard for those interested…

The chassis will be a lynxmotion (www.lynxmotion.com) tri-track platform with GHM-04 motors with the QME-01 encoders added. These should get me a pretty decent rate of speed if required and will take a 7.2v battery. I’ll be using some kind of Li-ion 7.2v cells, most likely near 2000mah, and have a huge 6″ square solar panel on top to charge the robot when it parks and enters sleep mode.

The brains of course will be the WeeGee 1.1 with a serial camera, 2gb sd card, 1 sonar and 3 IR range finders. I may add other sensors in the future, but this should be enough to have fun with my closed loop motor drive routines etc. I also did get a PIR sensor to make it eventually seek out warm moving things (Watch out my kitties!). More to come…
