Its entirely possible that manufaturers have been waiting for WM6 to be released so that their new devices would not be immeadiately “outdated” by having WM5. This is no suprize as we have been patiently waiting for WM6’s release since it was demo’ed on May 9th 2006 at DevCon in Las Vegas. Although its possible that this is just a reworked version of WM5 instead of an entirely new operating system, it will include support for Visual Studio 2005 making it easier to develop applications for. Also there is talk of using a new processor, the Intel pxa29x Monahans instead of the pxa27x Bulverde (the bulverde drives the treo 650/700w/700p and ppc6700/ppc6600), making a performance upgrade in addition to a software upgrade. Also, there is better VGA implementaion and its possible that VGA will be a “standard” feature of WM6.
You are wrong about the ppc-6600, it ran a pxa-25x cpu. But yea, this should be interesting…
