Fat 32 File - looping 650

Shadowmite, hopefully you guys can advise, I have changed phones, both 650, the first upgrade to 4gb went okay by changinf the fatfs file to fat 32 file, but when I changed phones to my friends phone and with his rom I cannot even add the fat 32 file to allow 4gb cards. the phone is unlocked with firmware 01.71 and software treo650-1.20-ena.
